THE FACES OF FOOD INSECURITY

Did you know?

Being food insecure means living without reliable access to a sufficient quantity of affordable and nutritious food. It is characterized by periods of disrupted eating patterns, reduced food intake and a low-quality diet due to a lack of resources.

Food insecurity...

  • Affects almost 16% of the U.S. population.

  • Impacts over 9,000 people in the city of Harrisonburg.

  • Affects one in five children in Rockingham County.

  • Has been called America’s “hidden crisis.”
